Q1. A's income is 60% more than that of B. By what percent is B's income less than A's?

Let B income is $100

Then income of A = 100 +60 % of 100 

 100 +60  = $160

If A income is 160 then  B income is 100

If A income is 100 then B income = 100 X 100/ 160 = $62.50

B income less than A income by 100 - 62.50 = 37.5 %

Q2. A student secured 32% marks in an examination and failed by 12 marks.Another student secured 42% marks and got 28 marks more than the minimum marks required to pass. find the maximum marks and the pass percentage of marks.

Let max marks = x 

In first case 

Pass marks = 32% of X +12 = 32x/100 +12

In second case, 42% of x - 28 = 42x/100 -28

Pass marks are same 

32x/100+12 = 42x/100 -28

42x/100 - 32x/100 = 12+28

10x/100 = 40 

x = 100X40/10 = 400

Maximum marks = 400

Pass  of marks 32% of 400 +12 = 128 +12 = 140

Percentage of pass marks = 140/400X 100% =35% 

Q3. Ravi saves 23% of her monthly salary. if her expenditure per month is $9702, find her salary.

LEt salary = x

Saving = 23% of x

Expenditure = 9702

Salary =saving + Expenditure

x = 23%of x +9702

$12600

Q4. The price of an article increases from $960 to $1080. find the percentage increase in the price.

Q5. In a class, 60% of the total number of students are boys and there are 14 girls. how many students are there in the class?
